Vintage Trailer Rally in Medicine Hat

In this week’s episode, we’re heading south with Bella the Boler to Medicine Hat, Alberta to attend the first ever Fiberglass and Vintage Trailer Rally, being organized by Sandy Mason and the Glorious Glampers of Southern Alberta. Well, we’re sorting of heading for the rally. We only bought our Boler in June and by that time it was too late to register for the rally and to book the days off work so we came down for the first day and got to see a lot of the trailers roll into Gas City Campground. Naturally we had to check out a couple of other places in Medicine Hat while we were there. We’re already planning for next year and this time we’ll be full participants for the entire weekend.

Searching for the Grave of Ken Liddell

Two years ago I wrote a blog post about journalist and author Ken Liddell. Ken wrote a column for the Calgary Herald for twenty-five years which focused on the people and places of the prairie provinces, especially Alberta.

In today’s episode, I pay a visit to Queen’s Park Cemetery in Calgary to search for Ken’s final resting place and to pay my respects to the man who really showed the way for those of us who like to tell local stories.

Bella the Vintage Boler Goes Camping Again

It’s our fourth camping trip of the year with our vintage 1978 trailer, Bella the Boler. Once again we are heading out to beautiful Kananaskis Country here in Alberta to explore and relax. This time we travel down Alberta’s Highway 66 and stay at Beaver Flat Campground (shown as Beaver Flats on some maps). We set out to climb an unnamed hill and also visit a remarkable small waterfall in a hidden grotto on Rainy Creek. Of course, there is some Geocaching to do along the way as well.

Road Trip! Porcupine Hills and Southern Alberta

It’s a classic DanOCan road trip, with abandoned places, misadventures, Geocaching, and lots of dusty backroads.

We’re constantly trying to make improvements to Bella the Boler, our vintage trailer from 1978. This time we tackle a couple of small projects.
